Speeding Ticket Fines

You Delaware speeding ticket fines depend on how fast you were traveling. All speed violations are considered misdemeanors. Your ticket will be no less than $25 for a first offense and no less than $57.50 for subsequent offenses. In addition, the total amount of your fine will be determined by your speed, as follows:

• 5 – 15 miles per hour over the posted limit: $1 per mile

• 15 – 20 miles per hour over: $2 per mile

• over 20 miles per hour over: $3 per mile

Fines increase by $1 per mile per hour over the limit for subsequent offenses, so in total, you could be looking at fines anywhere from $30 to $137+. You can get additional fines if you’ve been racing on the highway, driving aggressively, or breaking other Delaware driving laws.
